“The key to everything is patience. You get the chicken by hatching the egg, not by smashing it.”
– Arnold H. Glasow
Evolving into the person you want to become is tough.
Our culture bombards us with “overnight success” stories.
But the truth?
The truth is that anyone who is impressive in their accomplishments… probably took decades to get where they are today.
Don’t get upset with yourself for not understanding something or performing something perfectly on your first try.
…or even your tenth try.
You need to be patient with yourself and accept where you’re at in your step of the journey.
You wouldn’t yell at a caterpillar because it’s not a butterfly yet. 🦋
You know that someday soon, it’s going to make a cocoon, and shortly after that, it will emerge to spread its beautiful wings to fulfill the task it was working towards all along.
If you’re struggling to achieve a goal — no matter how hard you push and shove — that doesn’t mean you’ll never reach the level you’re shooting for.
It just means that you’re still in the “caterpillar” phase of your journey.
Sure, it’s all kinds of frustrating…
…and that’s ok.
Acknowledge it.
Accept the fact that you’re not where you want to be…
Recognize that tomorrow is another day.
Tomorrow, you can take a different approach to what wasn’t working today, or you can actively seek out someone who is doing it correctly and see what they’re doing differently from you.
Just so long as you keep showing up every day.
Next time you feel the itch of impatience, whether you’re growing a brand or laboring to learn a song on piano, remember: Rome wasn’t built in a day, but it was built.
They were laying bricks every hour.
🤺Be fierce.
🧗Be bold.
🧘But most of all, be patient.
